Government Policy
Issues affecting the operation and sustainability of wedding businesses.

Policy & advocacy
Individual wedding businesses can rarely influence national policy alone. A federation can identify common issues, gather evidence and present a coherent industry position.
Scope
Issues affecting the operation and sustainability of wedding businesses.
Regulation affecting wedding venues and associated hospitality services.
Recognition of weddings and destination weddings as contributors to Irish tourism.
Ensuring wedding businesses are considered when national or sectoral supports are designed.
Industry issues involving VAT, taxation and business costs.
Employment regulation affecting wedding businesses.
Licensing regimes affecting hospitality and entertainment.
Availability and affordability of appropriate business and event insurance.
Supporting fair standards for both businesses and couples.
Issues affecting wedding transportation and guest movement.
Planning and regulatory issues relevant to wedding venues and event businesses.
Ensuring that the implications for weddings are understood when event restrictions are considered.
Method
IWIF's credibility should come from evidence.
Where possible the federation will consult members, collect industry data, commission research and document the commercial impact of relevant policies before making representations.
This allows policymakers, journalists and other stakeholders to understand not merely that a problem exists, but its likely economic consequences.
